The Last 35 Days As A Med Student

by Edwin T on Feb.07, 2010, under deep in the heart, happenings

Counting down. 35 more days to go before the final professional exam begins. Started to feel like a cat on hot bricks. It is always like that every time exams come especially a major one like this. I thought I am already used to exams and bouts of tests but indeed, I am not. I think.

My study table and stacks of books. This is just half from the total. ;(

Friends said, “The knowledge is already all in the mind. You’ve gathered and accumulated all of them throughout these 5 years in medical school.” I believe the saying is somehow true. What I need now the most is a little bit more recalling power tho’. And some extra confidence!

CF will be organizing a farewell party for us final year members a day after tomorrow (9 Feb). Hard to believe that I’m now the one being cherished goodbye! All’s well that ends well. Wishing everyone has a Happy Chinese New Year (and a Happy Valentine)!

P.S. will be spending my CNY holiday studying. Study leave starts on 14 Feb till 14 March. Pro-exam shall commence thereafter.

Buddies

by Edwin T on Jul.20, 2009, under deep in the heart, happenings

Sunday morning was Hari Interaksi Fakulti Perubatan, which was purposely held for the first year medical students to know their seniors better. As being invited by Prof Shahrir, a dedicated lecturer of mine, I decided to attend the event despite of my O&G theory paper examination on the next morning.

I made it there. Not me alone, but together with my complete buddy line members. Starting from I, the final year, Jia Hui 4th year, Xun Quan 3rd year, Xue Ping 2nd year and last but not least, the newly joined 1st year buddy, Shi Wei.

It was a MEMORABLE DAY for me! I’ve been looking forward for this day to come ever since I stepped into medical school 4 years back.

Buddy-ship is NOT a SUPERFICIAL relationship where you borrow notes and books but it is built on pillars of mutual understanding, respect, helpfulness and sharing thoughts and stories. I feel a little upset when somebody is going against this system which has been existing for decades.

Perhaps they have not seen the benefits within. But I’m THANKFUL that I have buddies who are close to me. Thanks to Dr Teh Yeon Chiat (my senior grandbuddy), Dr Ooi Cheng Tian (my senior buddy), Jia Hui, Xun Quan and Xue Ping for the things you all have done for me.

While for lil Shi Wei, you are now part of our big family and I hope you will discover the magics within! :)
